Color Crush: Radiant Orchid

Last week, Pantone announced their pick for the 2014 color of the year. It has has received a lot of mixed reviews, but in all honesty, I really kinda like it. Pantone describes it as " an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones." I think they are encouraging the use of more than just one color, and instead guiding towards a general palette to follow. My home office proudly sports an orchid on the desk near the window. It is resilient and lovely. A good reminder for when I am working into the wee hours of the night!

If nothing else, it makes for great mood boarding. I don't think I have ever had more fun making one! ;)

Lacing up for winter

Yesterday we had our first sighting of snow in Boston. Yep, I awoke to seeing the Common with a light dusting and ran downstairs just in time to walk to the office in slush. 'Tis the season, right?! :) With more snowy days ahead and round 2 of snowfall today, I'm mourning the loss of wearing cute shoes but desperately trying to come up with ways to spice up the ordinary "winter survival" attire. While I think these fair aisle stockings are adorable, I don't quite think I can pull them off… what do you think?!

Fit For A Hostess

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX | SEVEN | EIGHT

Success! A fun and happy weekend! Both Anna's got to dress up and hit up some Holiday parties this weekend. T'was great fun. I even broke out the red lipstick. As you head to your festive get togethers over the next few weeks, take a little something for the hosts if you can! It is a great way to say thank you for their hospitality and keep the Christmas spirit alive and well. My personal favorite on that list are the caramels-wow do I love a good salted caramel. I mean, in case you ever need to know... ;)

A Holiday Playlist

HOLIDAY PLAYLIST

Firstly, I have to confess that I am actually bummed that there isn't snow here in Boston yet. We have at least had a dusting by this point! Nope- nada, niente, nil. A little snow makes everything feel a bit more Christmas like, don't you think? Alas, I'll have to settle for these gray, snowless days. With or without the white stuff, Christmas music is most definitely still being played! We've made a little Holiday playlist to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Happy Weekend!

The portable trapese

In the handbag world, there's nothing better than finding a stunning leather bag in a staple hue. Yep, we welcome camel, deep brown and black any day of the week... and love when they come with clean lines and that sweet leather smell. Today's purseday pick is a classic style by Celine that we're thinking might be worth the splurge!

Wedding tresses

How about some hair inspiration for your Wedding Wednesday? We think so too. It was by complete accident that most of these ended up falling under the "whimsical yet classy" look, but we're embracing it. There are some Christmas parties that we will be attending this weekend that are calling for "festive" attire, so naturally there will be hairstyling and dress swapings and all those girly party things. Everything is prettier during the Holidays. :)

All the little dots

Oh me, oh my have you started your holiday shopping yet?! Perhaps it's because our office is located in the heart of some fabulous Boston shopping, but it seems that everyone is getting an early and aggressive start on things. As I've been perusing stores and websites alike, I must say how much I'm appreciating all of the polkadots that are festively hanging around. Have you been catching on to this as well? I'm a sucker for dots myself, and as soon as I spotted this little number on the Glitter Guide, it re-ignited my obsession. Hence today's shoesday pick would be these darling stilettos by Monolo Blahnik:

Celebrate the small things

I hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving and are feeling perky as ever after the post Thanksgiving food-coma! Between today being Black Friday and my birthday, we're just full of all sorts of excitement in the Paper Moss office. It seems that each year birthdays become a little less "happy" and a little more serious. To offset that, I want to celebrate some of the things that make me smile, feel pampered and ignite inspiration:

{champagne cocktails :: flowers :: sequins :: ice cream :: typography}

What are some of your absolute favorite things?!

Dish Jams

PLAYLIST II on PAPER MOSS SPOTIFY

Playlist two is here just in time for Thanksgiving! This was made purely for dish-cleaning fun. I guarantee you that your post-turkey-day clean up with be significantly more fun if you dance to this while scrubbing.

This little guy is full of oldies but goodies like Sam Cooke, Etta James, and The Jackson 5. Grab a dish towel and put on your dancing shoes. Doing the dishes has never been so fun.

Cozy Up

I'm not gonna lie: this week has been awesome so far, but today is the "hump day" of this holiday week and oh heavens am I ready for the weekend! I know you know what I mean. ;) A little bit of coziness, lots of laughing with friends, new twists on traditional recipes… we have some good times in store these next few days! I'm not hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year {a huge THANK YOU to my dear friend Courtney who is!} so the hubs and I are planning & anticipating a lazy morning full with pajamas, slippers, spiked coffee and movies! Can you blame me for a Tuesday Shoesday detour?!

Thanksgiving is officially this week! I can't believe how fast time goes- real talk. You can believe that I will be enjoying some tasty things this Thanksgiving. And probably making some tasty cocktails. ;) I definitely want to try out the Pomegranate Gin Fizz, and the Rosemary Infused Cocktail. I am a sucker for anything savory. What are you suggestions for cocktails? We are listening!

A Thanksgiving DIY: Watercolor Place Cards

We have had a lot of fun in the office lately! Styling, brainstorming, painting...you name it! The creative juices have been flowing and we are loving it. Seeing as Thanksgiving is just around the corner (less than a week!) we wanted to get a little something together for you guys. These watercolor place cards are so sweet and festive- and as any DIY should be, simple.

All you need is:

watercolor brush (I used BLICK studio, 14)

maroon watercolor paint (or red/brown)

place cards (you can find these at Paper Source)

gold calligraphy paint pen

Instructions:

1. First, gather your supplies. Make sure to get plenty of place cards. You will want to practice, and have some backups in case of mistakes or misspellings!

2. If you can, work with these on an angled surface. It allows the paint to travel wherever the water goes, and it just makes painting easier!

3. Paint using different shades by varying the amount of water you use. Make sure to add a touch of a darker shade (less water) to the card.

4. When the cards are dry, use the gold calligraphy pen to write your guests names down on each card.

Other than that, these little guys are up to you! Practice makes perfect- have fun with it!

Happy Weekend!!

Because You Needed Some Sass on your Wednesday

We have been talking about Fall trends in the office, naturally, and we decided that sometimes the Fall wedding inspiration out there isn't always the most inspiring. (If ya know what I mean.) However. I dug through the inspiration mecca (AKA, Pinterest) and found that denim jackets are a thing. For weddings. Why did we not think of this before?? It is so carefree and fun. Add some red lipstick and you are a force to be reckoned with. It is your party after all, you should enjoy it. ;)

Featured: Geordan & Rich

A few weeks back, we excitedly shared a beautiful fall flavored invitation suite that we designed for Geordan and Rich, a Connecticut based couple who was married at Jonathan Edwards Winery.Today, we're excited to start the week by celebrating that their big day was featured inSouthern New England Weddings Magazine. We're just over the moon for this sweet couple and their beautiful day! Take a peekat their online feature when you have a moment :)

Playlist I | A New Paper Moss Series

We are really excited to be starting this new series here on Pearls for Paper! We are listening to some "get-a-ton-of-work-done-/i-don't-know-how-we-can-get-it-all-done-in-one-day" type of music right this very moment. Needless to say, we have been a-workin this morning.

Playlist one is a little mix of acoustic fun and love. It is a good one to listen to if you need a pick-me-up. Or while you're making cupcakes- there would be so much happiness!

See the Spotify playlist here!
