Classy cakes

Have you ever come across something that is too beautiful to eat? Maybe it sounds silly, but we're serious! While perusing wedding mags & blog hopping these last few months, we have come across some of the most striking cakes by Washington DC based, Maggie Austin Cake. While we're all about appreciating different art forms, this one tugs at our heart strings just a little. We hear however, that they taste just as delectable as they look.

Never in our right mind did we imagine a time that looking at cake would be a fun as eating it. Which one would you choose??

The little lady

Once long ago, we had the duty of being a flower girl. Somehow it was not a pleasant experience... perhaps it was due to the hideous dress or the plastic flowers we carried down the aisle?? You know what we're talking about... did you have a similar experience? We are beyond thankful that there are so many adorable options for flower girls today thanks to companies like JcrewJanie and Jack and even Etsy. Don't get us wrong, we LOVE the tutus that we see in so many weddings, but here are some other options if you're not into that...

How great are these sun umbrellas?!

Hand made perfection

Happy Monday - After - Mothers Day! Did you show your mom some love this weekend? We are so blessed to have such wonderful mothers... one day of celebration just doesn't do them justice! Several years ago while living in Seattle, I started the tradition of getting my mom Glassy Baby's for Mothers Day.

After stumbling across the humble workshop {formerly in Greenlake}, I spent some time talking with the owner and watching the magic of each individual piece being created... and falling in love with these little babies! Since then, Glassy Baby has become a staple in many homes as candle holders, cups, toothbrush holders or bud vases.

They come in soooo many different colors and to make us love them even more, certain colors are tied to causes which receive a percentage of the revenue, such as:

{Happiness: 10% from the sale of each "happiness" Glassy Baby will be donated to Gilda's Club New York City to support cancer patients and their families}

If you're nerdy like me, you might enjoy seeing how they're made. :)

I'm kicking myself for failing to carry on the tradition of this Mothers Day gift this year.... they're just so beautiful, don't you agree??

A little Vineyard Vines touch

One of our favorite weddings of 2010 brought the opportunity for Paper Moss to work with a classic New England brand, Vineyard Vines. By now, you have got to know how much we thrive on customizing things. When the opportunity came about to customize ties for one of our grooms and his groomsmen, see the classic, preppy and sentimental spin it put on this idyllic wedding.

What a gorgeous group of people! To see more of Abby & Andrew's big day, check out our previous post.

Interested in having custom ties for your wedding? Don't hesitate to ask us how to make it happen!!! The possibilities are endless...

Tuesday Shoesday Inspiration

Today's Tuesday Shoesday pick was inspired by a recent photo shoot we collaborated on with some fabulous New England Vendors. As seen yesterday on Style Me Pretty, this 'Miss American Pie' theme took on a modern twist with a fun color combination of red and teal. One of our latest shoe obsessions are these canvas & rope pumps that happen to come in our featured colors... and a lot more.

The perfect little clutch

There's something in the color, that signature Tiffany's blue, that always puts our mind at ease. You get that too, right? Totally normal! Tiffany's has beyond mastered their marketing campaigns {obviously}, they're known for offering some of the most stunning jewelry, classic china and silver and now... phenomenal handbags! How delicious is the Lyn clutch in their signature color? While we're a little partial to this color, there are five other options to choose from! undefined undefined

Engaged: Kristin + Kelly

While the weather is still chilly out, we couldn't resist sharing this adorable engagement shoot that consisted of a hot cocoa date and romantic stroll. Maryland based company Laura Ashbrook Photography was perfect at capturing the adorable charm of this couple. How they met: It all started six years ago {when Kristin was sixteen} and hitching a ride to an event with her Young Life leader. On the way, they stopped to pick up Kelly. The moment Kelly got in the car and started reciting lines from SNL, Kristin was sold. Although they went their separate ways that day and never even spoke to each other, Kristin told herself that she was going to marry that boy with the crazy curly hair. Five years later through a mutual friend, fate brought them together! How the love blossomed? Well, that’s another precious story.

How he proposed: On October 23, 2010 Kristin drove to Kelly’s house at 6:30 in the morning to embark on an adventure that he had been telling her about all week. Little did she know, he’d been planning more than just the hike at Annapolis Rock where they were headed. Expecting to find Kelly still asleep in his bed, when she arrived at the house, to her surprise, he was awake, ready to go and waiting for her on the porch. The hour car drive to the trail was a silent drive and left Kristin concerned that something was wrong. To fill the silence and calm his nerves, Kelly turn on rap music...the entire drive...at 6:30 in the morning. When they got to Annapolis Rocks Kelly was anxious to get to the top and Kristin was clueless. It was a beautiful fall morning and the hike up the mountain was a fun and precious time for the both of them. When they got to the top, they went out on onto a rock that was overlooking the valley. Kelly then got down on one knee and asked Kristin to marry him. She said yes! Obviously!

Congratulations to this fabulous couple! Thanks for letting us share your beautiful story.

Pure Bliss

Wednesday night, we had the pleasure of partying down at the launch of the new magazine Celebrations. With so many beautifully creative minds behind these pages, we knew it couldn't be anything less than perfect, but we had NO idea just how perfect it would be! Now that we have your attention, here are a few of the reasons why we are obsessing:

1. Abby & Will's letterpress invite was a perfect fit for one of their Color Board Features, all that which provide endless inspiration. {Did we mention the advertisements from vendors happen to adorably match each feature?} Love those details!

2. Inspiration shoots like THIS! Industry professionals collaborate to create breathtaking scenes filled with details that raise the bar. Whether it's a mitzvah, dinner party or wedding, there are stunning ideas flowing from page to page to page. We were thrilled to participate in this particular photo shoot at Sweet Berry Farm, alongside one of our favorite photographers Ricky from Public Image Photography.

3. REAL events + color combinations that are to die for! Abby and Andrew's feature is just one of the many that we've been drooling over. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. We continue to ooh & ahh over her TRUE Event details & flowers by Sayles Livingston, all captured by the lovely Leila Brewster Photography.

A Vatne Valentines surprise!

Vatne Designs is one of our favorite things to come out of Bellingham, Washington... next to Death Cab for Cutie {and the Postal Service} of course. Hooray! {use the code PAPER25 at check out} AND enter to win a special Valentines necklace from Vatne!! {see below}

We had a chance to get to know a little more about the lovely lady behind all these pretty pieces. Here's what Neallie had to say:

How did you get into the business? I have been creating jewelry since I was young, it was an absolute favorite hobby of mine. I was lucky enough to find a career within the couture bridal industry straight out of college where I used my creativity daily, and worked with brides and wedding professionals throughout the country.  After staying home with my kiddos for a few years I decided to start my own business and my immediate instinct was to create jewelry and accessories for brides.  I have since expanded my line to include colors and styles which can be worn day to night, for any and all occasions.

What is your favorite part? My favorite part of creating is just that. I love to create beautiful sparkly jewelry that makes you smile the second you see it.

Do you have a signature piece? I would say that my signature pieces are my E101 earrings, they are the absolute favorite among my customers, friends and family. They add just the right amount of sparkle and bling to your everyday jeans and t-shirt, or they are perfect with a wedding gown. I love them.

Southern Living Weddings

There's a lot to love about Southern Living Magazine, after all, the South has such a distinct and irreplaceable charm. We were so excited for Alison and Chris when we heard their wedding was featured in Southern Living Weddings (among others!). From the custom printed buttons & flags to the cotton candy topped champagne, we don't know which detail we're still swooning over. {Perhaps it's the vintage stamps that appear on the invites, programs and cake..?! The list could go on.} Regardless, this couple and their gorgeous wedding will surely continue to inspire us all. We are beyond honored that they entrusted us with their stationery suite, and couldn't be happier with the end result. (Not to mention the attention it's getting ;))

This is certainly cause for celebration... what an exciting way to capture the memories of their big day! To see more on this feature or to check out other weddings, visit Southern Living Weddings online.

Bridesmaids, your prayers are answered

If you have been or will be a bridesmaid, you'll appreciate this little nugget that we just have to share. For all those times we silently suffered as our besties picked out dresses they swore we'd wear again, for the times we bit our tongue with jealousy that the groomsmen could just rent their tuxes, not fuss with altering something deemed "bridal sizing" and then clog their closets with the aftermath... Well, our sulking has been heard! Rent the Runway not only has a variety of perfect for partying dresses, but now, a recently launched bridal line.

Now your bridesmaids can wear designer gowns {Milly, Badgley Mischka, D&G} or dresses that perfectly suit your wedding color scheme... and everyone wins. What a gracious compromise! After the wedding, bridesmaids pop their dresses back in the mail and never have to worry about them again.

Head-to-Toe Happiness

Happy Wednesday, everyone! While cruising around blog world, we came across this precious west-coast couple on the Jagger Photography blog and fell in love with the light, sweet, relaxed but romantic tones. Jagger Photography did an incredible job capturing the big day {all you Seattle based brides, check them out!} and the pair packed their event full of intricate details that made it sparkle! What a gorgeous couple from head.....

.....to toe! :)

This color combo reminds us of a wedding we did in September. Remember?? Gotta love those icons!

Our Monday obsession.

Cupcakes are pretty close to being perfect on their own, but putting them in adorable containers that allow for fabulous party favors to-go makes us speechless. You see, some of us at Paper Moss (who shall remain nameless) don't have that 'special touch' when it comes to baking. Oh they taste good, but their appearance wouldn't make you think so. In other words, this DIY might be the perfect fit for those of us that need some help in the presentation department. Gotta love projects like that! Now for those of you who don't share our little problem... well, this should be a cake-walk.

{red velvet cake & cream cheese frosting, oh my}

Thank you Cakies, for being so cute and brilliant!!

Get your bling on!

How could we resist sharing this fabulous Boston-based find ~ JOJO’s Bling?! We truly have been obsessing over these little swarovski crystals for months and figured that today of all days {New England being covered in sparkly snow and all} was just the day to share it. Ladies, please note: there is a color and style for every occasion/outfit/wedding color scheme. If you’re not careful, you might be like one local nurse who is rumored to wear bling to match every pair of scrubs she owns. ;)

As if the above isn't fabulous enough, check out JOJO's Party Bling collection... some occasions just call for more sparkle!

For all the brides out there, JOJO loves working with you to create masterpieces for your maids, mothers or yourself. Perfection!

More Than A Gift Exchange

As many of you know, we have recently joined the land of Twitter and are loving every minute of it. With that came a whirl wind of great connections all over the world with other creative professionals. One thing led to another and we were invited to be part of a group called TWIPS {Twitter Wedding Inspiration Pals}. The sweet Annie from Marry You Me headed up a holiday gift exchange for us TWIPS & we were thrilled to draw Katie from Simply & Forever Event Planning. We packed up our goodies and sent them her way, anxiously awaiting our unknown 'elf' to send us ours. All we can say is our day was made when our gift arrived. To our surprise, we unwrapped a beautiful hand-made ceramic stationery box & gorgeous letterpress Thank You cards from a fellow stationer in NC, Sealed with Appeal! There was something special about Adger's gift & heartfelt note to us. It made us appreciate the vendor-to-vendor relationship and opportunity to encourage one another's businesses. Sometimes this industry can get competitive {well, can't they all} so it was refreshing to experience {and shout it from the rooftops} the joy in getting to know other invitation companies & their products. For lack of better words... us stationers gotta stick together.

With that being said, consider this post a huge "Thank You" to all the TWIPS, and an even bigger 'high five' to our fellow stationers. Happy Monday everyone!
